Considering a Move to a Hub City for Accounting
With graduation just two years away, I’m seriously contemplating relocating out of Pennsylvania. Having lived across the state, I haven’t found much to rave about in either the eastern or western regions. I’m drawn to waterfront cities and keep imagining possibilities in Florida, like the Florida Keys, but I’m also considering places like Atlantic City or Ocean City, Maryland. I’m open to suggestions! I think the Pacific Northwest, particularly Oregon, could be an interesting option, though I’m unsure about the job market there. Where do you all think would be the best place to settle down?

It sounds like you’re at an exciting crossroads in your life! Moving to a hub area for Accounting can really open up your opportunities.
If you’re leaning toward waterfront vibes, Florida has a lot to offer, especially with places like Miami or Tampa – both have vibrant job markets for Accounting and finance. The West Keys would be scenic, but job opportunities might be limited compared to more urban areas.
Atlantic City and Ocean City, Maryland, also have their charm and can provide a nice lifestyle, but consider the job market and networking opportunities in those areas. They might be a bit more niche, especially in terms of year-round jobs.
The Pacific Northwest, especially cities like Portland and Seattle, has a growing job market in Accounting and can give you those beautiful waterfronts combined with stunning nature. They’re both larger cities with plenty of opportunities, but the cost of living can be higher.
Ultimately, think about what lifestyle you envision – do you value a vibrant nightlife, outdoor activities, or a slower pace? Researching job prospects, the cost of living, and quality of life in these areas can help you make the best decision. Whichever place you choose, make sure it feels right for you! Good luck with your future plans!
