Do some of you feel like when a recruiter reaches out to you that they are just trying to get your information and there is no real job?

Have any of you noticed that when recruiters contact you, it sometimes feels like they’re more interested in gathering your information than actually offering a genuine job opportunity? I can’t shake this strange feeling about it.

Even though people say the job market is tough, I still receive messages from recruiters—even those based in other countries. For instance, I’m in the US, yet I keep getting outreach from recruiters in the UK claiming they have job openings and want me to interview. It just seems off to me. What do you all think?

  1. It’s completely understandable to feel skeptical, especially when you receive unsolicited messages from recruiters in other countries. The job market can be unpredictable, and it’s natural to question the intentions behind those outreach efforts.

Some recruiters might indeed be gathering information or hoping to expand their network, particularly if they represent companies that are hiring internationally. It’s also possible they have legitimate openings, but the details may not align with your current situation or location.

To navigate this, consider asking specific questions about the roles they’re offering and the companies they’re representing. If they can provide clear details and a genuine interest in your background, that could help you determine if it’s worth pursuing. Trust your instincts, and if something feels off, it’s always okay to do a bit more research or skip the opportunity.
