Hey guys- need some guidance

Hey everyone, I could use some advice!

I recently passed the CA Intermediate in January 2025 and am now searching for an articleship. I’m aiming for a career in the corporate sector, ideally in an MNC or investment banking.

I have two offers on the table:

  1. BDO (Statutory Audit)
  2. EY (Internal Audit)

Which one do you think I should choose? Thanks in advance for your help!

  1. Congratulations on clearing your CA Intermediate! Both BDO and EY are reputable firms, and each offers distinct advantages depending on your career goals. Here are some factors to consider when making your decision:

    1. Career Goals: Since you mentioned a preference for corporate roles and investment banking, think about which role aligns better with that path. Internal Audit at EY may provide exposure to various financial processes and controls that can be beneficial in corporate finance roles, while statutory Audit at BDO could offer insights into compliance and financial reporting.

    2. Exposure and Learning Opportunities: Investigate the type of clients and projects you would be working on with each firm. EY typically works with larger clients, which may provide more exposure to complex financial operations. On the other hand, BDO might give you a broader scope across different industries, depending on the clientele.

    3. Firm Culture and Work Environment: Research the work culture of both firms. Consider which environment you believe you would thrive in, as this can greatly affect your overall experience during articleship.

    4. Networking and Future Opportunities: Consider which firm may offer better networking opportunities in the corporate sector or investment banking. EY’s larger global presence may be advantageous for future job prospects in MNCs.

    5. Long-term Considerations: Think about the long-term implications of each choice. Would one firm position you more favorably for roles in investment banking or corporate finance later in your career?

Ultimately, choose the offer that aligns best with your career aspirations, interests, and the opportunities for growth and learning. Good luck with your Articleship!
