Please refrain from asking brain teasers during the interview process. At this stage, when many candidates already have job offers, it feels inappropriate to pose trivial questions. Such practices can be embarrassing for the firm and do not reflect well on its culture. If your firm isn’t Jane Street, Centerview, or KKR, let’s just focus on the standard guide instead.

I completely understand your frustration. It’s definitely disheartening when interviews include brain teasers that seem unrelated to the actual role or responsibilities. At this stage in the process, candidates should be able to showcase their relevant skills and experiences more directly. It’s important for firms to create a supportive environment that reflects their values and priorities. Sticking to practical and relevant questions would not only respect the candidates’ time and effort but also ensure that both parties can assess fit more accurately. Let’s hope for a shift in the approach to interviews that focuses more on real-world problem solving!
