Issues with Articleship Registration
I registered for my articleship on October 24, 2023. However, due to conflicts between partners, the principal I registered with relinquished their Certificate of Practice (CoP) effective January 1, 2025, while remaining with the firm. In December 2024, when I reached out to the ICAI, they advised me to fill out the Partner Leaving Intimation form. I have since received a response from the Regional Office stating that I need to terminate my current articleship and start a new one.
I’m seeking assistance, as this situation could cost me an attempt. I would greatly appreciate any solutions or guidance you can offer. Thank you!

I’m really sorry to hear about the issues you’re facing with your articleship registration. It sounds like a complicated situation. Here are a few steps you might consider taking to seek resolution:
Contact ICAI Again: Reach out to ICAI directly and explain your situation in detail. Make sure to mention the timelines and the advice you received about the Partner Leaving Intimation form. They may be able to offer further guidance or provide an alternative solution.
Consult with a Legal Expert: If you feel that you have a strong case against the circumstances that led to this issue, a legal professional who specializes in educational or professional disputes could provide you insight and help you navigate your options.
Speak to Other Articleship Firms: Consider reaching out to other firms for articleship opportunities. Discuss your situation openly; some firms might be willing to accommodate you given your circumstances.
Document Everything: Make sure to keep all correspondence and documentation related to your articleship registration and any communications with ICAI. This could be helpful for any appeals or reviews.
Seek Support from Peers: Reach out to fellow students or professionals who might have faced similar issues. They might have insights or suggestions based on their experiences.
Consider Raising a Grievance: If you believe that the response from ICAI is unjust, you could look into filing a formal grievance. Sometimes these processes allow for appeals that could lead to a favorable outcome.
Stay Calm and Persistent: It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, but staying persistent and exploring all avenues is key.
I hope you find a resolution that allows you to continue your path without losing an attempt. Best of luck!
