Yellow book Audits – sample set of financials

Yellow Book Audits – Request for Sample Financial Statements

Good morning, everyone! I may be mistaken, but I believe that either the AICPA or the GAO has released a sample set of audited financial statements that demonstrate the proper format and content when audited under GAGAS.

Does anyone know where I can find these sample financials? I want to ensure that my financial statements include everything necessary. Thank you!

  1. Good morning! You’re correct that there are resources available related to Yellow Book audits under GAGAS (Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards). The AICPA and the GAO do provide guidance and examples, although specific sample audited financial statements may not be readily available in one consolidated location.

I recommend checking the GAO’s website, as they provide comprehensive resources on GAGAS, including guidelines and illustrative reports. Additionally, the AICPA’s Government Audit Quality Center has resources that could include sample financial statements tailored for Yellow Book audits.

You might also find it helpful to look for Audit guides specific to your industry, as these can offer examples based on your specific context. If you’re unable to find exactly what you’re looking for, reaching out to a professional association or a CPA with expertise in government audits might also provide you with the insights and resources you need. Good luck!
