Asset Management Recruitment – Research Roles

Hi everyone! I’m seeking insights on the typical recruitment timeline for research positions in Asset Management. Is the process largely driven by bonus schedules? I’ve heard that most turnover and hiring tends to occur in January and April, aligning with bonus payouts at the end of the year or by the end of March. While I noticed a few job openings this year, they weren’t particularly abundant. I’m hopeful that, with many firms aligning their bonus payments toward the end of March, we’ll see an increase in opportunities in the upcoming month. Any thoughts or experiences you can share? Thank you!

  1. Hello! You’ve got a good grasp on the recruiting timeline in Asset Management, especially for research roles. Generally, most firms do align their hiring cycles with bonus payments, which means January and April are indeed peak times for both turnover and new recruitment.

In January, many firms see an influx of candidates after bonuses are distributed, as employees may choose to make a move if they received their expected bonuses or if they are seeking new opportunities. Similarly, the end of March can also see increased activity as firms might want to fill roles quickly following bonus payouts.

However, while these months are critical, it’s also worth noting that some firms may post roles at different times throughout the year, depending on their specific needs or changes in strategy. It’s a dynamic environment, so keeping an eye on job boards and networking can help you stay informed about opportunities as they arise.

To maximize your chances, it could be beneficial to reach out to recruiters or hiring managers in the coming weeks, as they may be preparing for an uptick in hiring. Good luck, and keep us posted on your progress!
