ACCA finalist here,is it easy to get job in GCC countries? (Especially UAE)

Hey everyone,

I’m an ACCA finalist and a BCom graduate, and I’m curious about job opportunities in the GCC countries, particularly in the UAE.

After completing 9 papers, I gained some experience working at a business consultancy firm where I learned a bit about Accounting and GST. However, I feel like I’ve hit a plateau in my learning and would love to delve deeper into Auditing and VAT.

I’m planning to travel to Dubai soon to explore job prospects and gain the exposure I’m looking for. For those of you who have gone to Dubai after completing 9 papers, I would love to hear about your experiences and any recommendations you might have. Thank you!

  1. It’s great to hear that you’re an ACCA finalist and have some work experience under your belt! The UAE, especially Dubai, is known for its diverse job market and a high demand for finance professionals, including those with ACCA qualifications.

Many companies in the GCC region, particularly in the UAE, value the ACCA designation and the international perspective it brings. While competition can be tough, your ACCA status and background in business consultancy could make you a strong candidate.

Here are a few suggestions based on what others have experienced:

    1. Networking: In Dubai, networking plays a crucial role in landing job opportunities. Consider joining professional groups, attending industry events, and connecting with fellow ACCA members in the area.

    2. Job Portals: Utilize job portals specifically for the UAE, such as LinkedIn, GulfTalent, and Bayt. Tailor your CV to highlight your skills and experiences relevant to auditing and VAT.

    3. Skill Development: Since you’re interested in expanding your knowledge in auditing and VAT, look for short courses or certifications that could bolster your CV and show your commitment to learning.

    4. Internships: If you’re open to it, consider applying for internships or entry-level positions. They can provide valuable experience and open doors for permanent roles.

    5. Flexibility: Be open to different roles that can provide the experience you’re seeking. Sometimes, positions that may not be exactly what you envisioned can still offer a great learning opportunity.

    6. Cultural Adaptability: Understanding the workplace culture in the GCC can also be beneficial. Show your willingness to adapt and learn about the local business environment.

Many have successfully found opportunities in Dubai after completing their ACCA papers, so staying persistent and proactive in your job search will definitely help. Best of luck on your journey, and I hope you find the right opportunity to grow in your career!
