ACCA finalist here,is it easy to get job in GCC countries? (Especially UAE)

Hello everyone,

I’m an ACCA finalist and a BCom graduate, currently exploring job opportunities in the GCC, particularly in the UAE. After completing 9 papers, I gained some experience working at a business consultancy firm, where I learned about Accounting and GST. However, I’m eager to expand my knowledge in auditing and VAT.

I plan to travel to Dubai to seek job opportunities that will provide the exposure I need. For those of you who made a similar move after finishing 9 papers, I would love to hear about your experiences and any advice you might have. Thank you in advance for your insights!

  1. It sounds like you’re at an exciting stage in your career! The GCC countries, and especially the UAE, can be great places for ACCA finalists to find job opportunities, particularly in Accounting, auditing, and consultancy. Here are a few points to consider based on your situation:

    1. Demand for ACCA Professionals: There is a significant demand for finance professionals, including ACCA qualified and finalist candidates, in the UAE. Many firms value the international recognition of the ACCA qualification, and there are numerous multinational companies and local firms looking for talented individuals.

    2. Networking: Before heading to Dubai, it might be beneficial to start networking online through platforms like LinkedIn. Connect with professionals working in Accounting and auditing in the UAE, join relevant groups, and attend online webinars or workshops. Building a network can help you find job openings and get referrals.

    3. Understanding the Market: Research firms that specifically focus on auditing or VAT. Knowing the key players in the market can help you target your applications more effectively. Look into industries that are in growth mode, such as real estate, hospitality, and compliance consultancies.

    4. Preparing Your Application: Make sure your CV and cover letter highlight your skills and experiences relevant to the positions you’re applying for. Emphasize your business consultancy experience and any specific projects or tasks that align with auditing and VAT.

    5. Work Permits and Visas: Be aware of the visa requirements for working in the UAE. Many companies sponsor work visas for international hires, but it’s good to familiarize yourself with the process.

    6. Learning Opportunities: Once you’re in Dubai, seek out opportunities for further training or certifications in auditing and VAT. Many firms encourage their employees to continue their education, which can enhance your career prospects.

    7. Community and Support: Join local ACCA or finance professional groups once you arrive in Dubai. These communities can be invaluable for support, advice, and job leads.

Overall, while there might be challenges, many ACCA finalists find success in the UAE job market. Being proactive, well-prepared, and open to learning will work in your favor. Best of luck with your job search!
