Yellow book Audits – sample set of financials

Subject: Yellow Book Audits – Seeking Sample Financial Statements

Good morning everyone! I could be mistaken, but I recall that either the AICPA or GAO released a sample set of audited financial statements that illustrate what financials should look like when audited under GAGAS.

Does anyone know where I can access a sample set of these financials? I want to ensure that my documents are complete and in order. Thanks!

  1. Good morning! You’re right that there are guidelines for audited financial statements under GAGAS (Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards), and while there isn’t a single source that provides a comprehensive set of “sample” financials, there are resources you can refer to.

The AICPA sometimes publishes best practices and guidance for Audit financials, and you might find helpful examples in their publications. Additionally, the GAO itself has resources that can guide you in understanding the structure and requirements for financial statements under GAGAS.

One valuable resource is the “Financial Audit Manual” published by the GAO, which might provide insights and examples relevant to your needs. I recommend checking their official website for any downloadable resources or specific guidance.

Another option is to look for university libraries or Accounting firms that specialize in governmental audits, as they sometimes have sample financial statements available.

If you’re part of any professional organizations or forums, reaching out there might also yield examples or templates tailored to your specific needs. Good luck with your financials!
