Feeling the Pressure
As a senior in public Accounting, currently in the Audit department, I’m starting to feel the weight of panic as we approach the end of busy season. The overwhelming workload is intense, especially considering our Audit team has shrunk significantly compared to last year. Apart from our manager, everyone on the team is new to Audit, which adds another layer of difficulty. My teammate and I have been working tirelessly, logging over 60 hours a week for the past couple of months.
I have to admit, I’m losing my enthusiasm. I used to enjoy working in audit, but this year has been incredibly tough and stress-inducing. Transitioning to my first year as a senior has proven to be far more challenging than I anticipated as a staff member.
I realize this might come off as a bit of a rant, and I don’t expect any solutions, but I just needed to express these feelings somehow.

It sounds like you’re going through an incredibly tough time right now, and it’s completely understandable to feel overwhelmed, especially with the added stress of a lean team and the demands of a senior role. Transitioning from staff to senior can be a huge adjustment, and doing it during busy season only amplifies those challenges.
It’s important to acknowledge how you’re feeling and remember that it’s okay to vent about the stress. You’ve been working incredibly hard, and your dedication speaks volumes about your commitment to your team and your work. Try to take a moment for yourself whenever you can, whether it’s a quick break to step outside or some time to unwind after a long day.
Reach out to your manager if you feel comfortable doing so—sometimes, sharing your workload concerns can lead to support or resources that can lighten the load a bit. Remember, you’re not alone in this; many others are feeling the strain during busy season too, and it’s okay to ask for help or guidance.
Hang in there! The end of busy season will come, and it’s okay to prioritize your wellbeing during this hectic time. You’ve got this!
