KPMG: Two Back-to-Back 30-Minute Interviews for Software Engineer Position—Any Tips?
Hey everyone,
I recently received an invitation to interview for a Software Engineer position at KPMG, and I’m looking for some insight. I couldn’t find much information on this interview format or details about KPMG’s SWE interviews in general. If anyone has gone through this process, I’d really appreciate your advice on what to anticipate. I’ve heard they’re not highly technical, which is a relief, but I’m completely unfamiliar with taxes (definitely didn’t expect to move forward in the process, honestly!).
Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Congrats on getting the interview with KPMG! Here are some tips to help you prepare for your back-to-back interviews:
Understand the Role: Even if you’re not expecting heavy technical questions, it’s vital to understand the basics of the Software Engineering (SWE) role you are applying for. Familiarize yourself with KPMG’s technology stack and their focus areas, especially related to tax technologies if applicable.
Behavioral Questions: KPMG interviews often include a mix of behavioral and situational questions. Prepare to discuss your past experiences, challenges you’ve faced, and how you’ve worked in teams. Use the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) method to structure your answers.
Cultural Fit: Research KPMG’s values and culture. Be prepared to discuss why you want to work there and how you align with their mission and values. Demonstrating fit can be just as important as technical skills.
Problem-Solving Skills: You might encounter problem-solving or case study questions. Brush up on how to articulate your thought process clearly. They might give you a scenario and ask how you would approach solving it, even if it’s not highly technical.
Questions for Interviewers: Prepare some thoughtful questions to ask at the end of your interviews. This shows your interest in the role and can provide insights into the team and work culture.
Stay Calm and Confident: Interviews can be nerve-racking, but try to stay calm and showcase your enthusiasm for the role. Be yourself, and don’t hesitate to clarify questions if you don’t understand something.
Good luck! You’ve got this!
