Business Software Recommendations Needed

My wife is employed at a manufacturing company that is currently relying on an outdated program. They are looking to upgrade, so I thought I’d reach out for some recommendations.

Here are their key requirements:
– Ability to handle both collapsed and expanded BOLs.
– Integrated inventory management and phantom invoicing.
– Capable of generating pro forma and shipping documents.

The company has about 25 employees and generates around $10 million in revenue annually.

For reference, they are currently using a DOT Matrix printer and the system runs on DOS—definitely time for an upgrade!

I appreciate any suggestions you may have. Thanks!

  1. Hi there!

It’s great that you’re looking for better software solutions for your wife’s manufacturing company. Given their needs and the current situation, here are a few recommendations that might work well:

    1. Odoo: This is a highly flexible ERP system that can integrate inventory management, invoicing, and shipping documentation. It also has support for various manufacturing processes. The user interface is modern compared to the current system, and it can handle both standard and phantom invoicing.

    2. Fishbowl: Particularly strong in inventory management, Fishbowl also offers functionalities for order management and integration with various shipping carriers. It would help them streamline their operations and create the necessary shipping documents.

    3. Sage 100cloud: This is tailored for manufacturing and distribution businesses. It offers features for inventory management, invoicing, and generating shipping documents. Plus, it’s scalable as their business grows.

    4. NetSuite: This is a more comprehensive cloud-based ERP that can handle inventory management, BOLs, and invoicing, all within one system. It may be on the pricier side, but it is robust and designed for growth.

    5. QuickBooks Commerce: If they’re already familiar with QuickBooks for Accounting, this extension can help integrate sales order, inventory, and invoicing management. While it may not be as feature-rich as the others, it’s user-friendly for smaller teams.

Before making a decision, it would be beneficial to assess their specific needs in detail and possibly trial a few of these options. Most of them offer demos or trials, which can help understand their usability. Best of luck with the upgrade!
