Seeking Entry-Level Roles Under CPA Supervision
Has anyone come across entry-level positions in Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable that involve direct supervision from a CPA?
I’m looking to fulfill the experience requirements for my CPA license, and I’m curious if it’s realistic to expect that A/P or A/R roles could offer this level of oversight from a CPA. Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

It’s not delusional at all! Many entry-level positions in accounts receivable (A/R) and accounts payable (A/P) can provide the necessary experience under the supervision of a CPA. While it’s more common to find this supervision in public Accounting firms, there are also opportunities in various industries.
Here are some tips to help you find these types of positions:
Look for Companies with CPA Firms: Target organizations that have a CPA on staff or that work closely with CPA firms. Smaller firms or businesses often have CPAs who supervise various financial processes.
Networking: Reach out to your network or attend industry events. Networking can lead you to opportunities that might not be widely advertised but offer the supervision you need.
Job Descriptions: When applying, carefully read job descriptions to see if they mention oversight or mentorship by a CPA. Don’t hesitate to ask about supervision during interviews.
Internships and Entry-Level Positions: Consider internships or cooperative education positions which are sometimes offered in coordination with CPA firms.
Follow-Up: If there isn’t any clear mention of CPA supervision in a job posting, it’s worth reaching out to the employer to ask if there will be CPA oversight in the position you’re interested in.
Keep your options open, and good luck in your search! It’s definitely achievable to find a role that meets your needs.
