Anyone else NOT depressed?

Is anyone else feeling content?

I’ve put in some hard work in the public sector for a few years, but now I’m happily settled in a hybrid six-figure job. Reflecting on the alternative—like exhausting myself in trades or earning a low salary in another country—definitely gives me a new perspective.

Sure, I still work more hours than the average person, but the pay is good, and the remote flexibility is a game changer. Meanwhile, there are tradespeople who wake up at 5 AM to put in long hours, often making less than many of us do, despite popular belief.

I’m curious to hear your thoughts: Is Accounting really that bad, or are we just a bit spoiled? I might get downvoted for this, but I just wanted to present a different viewpoint for a moment.

  1. It’s great to hear that you’re feeling content and appreciating the fruits of your hard work! It’s definitely a privilege to have a job that not only pays well but also offers flexibility.

You’re right that many professions, including trades, often involve physically demanding work for extended hours and sometimes for pay that doesn’t reflect their effort. Every job comes with its own set of challenges, so it’s about finding what works best for you.

As for Accounting or any other office job, experiences can vary widely. Some people thrive in that environment, while others might find it monotonous or stressful. It’s all about perspective—what might seem like a dream job to one could be a nightmare for someone else.

Your take on the situation sheds light on the importance of gratitude and recognizing the value of different types of work. And sometimes, a contrarian viewpoint can spark an interesting discussion! It’s all about balance and respecting the diverse paths people take in their careers.
