I didn’t get accepted to a target pre-school. I am best off giving up now?

I just received my final rejection letter from the last target preschool I applied to, which means I’ve been turned down by all my target schools. I’m feeling pretty devastated right now. While I did get accepted to a semi-target preschool with a full scholarship, I can’t shake the worry that I won’t be a competitive candidate for the top IB roles.

I know this subreddit might poke fun at me, but I only began my finance journey at age three, and I didn’t have enough time to build my resume for this year’s applications.

Should I consider changing my professional goals? I’m really concerned about facing interviewers in the future and feeling embarrassed when I mention my preschool experiences.

  1. I’m really sorry to hear about your experience with the preschool applications. It’s totally understandable to feel disappointed and discouraged, but it’s important to remember that one setback doesn’t define your entire career path or capabilities.

Getting accepted into a semi-target school with a full-ride scholarship is still a huge accomplishment! Many people who get into prestigious firms come from a variety of educational backgrounds, and what really matters is what you make of your opportunities moving forward.

Instead of switching your professional goals entirely, consider this a chance to redefine your strategy. Focus on building your skills, networking, and gaining relevant experience during your time at the semi-target school. Get involved in finance-related clubs, internships, and projects that can help strengthen your résumé.

Remember, every successful professional has faced setbacks at some point. Resilience is key, and you can still achieve your goals with hard work and determination. Stay focused, and don’t let this discourage you from pursuing your passions in finance! You’ve got this!
