Change of Status

Exciting Change Ahead!

I finally made the leap! The moment my doctor informed me that my biopsy results came back clean, I decided to let my boss know that I’ll be retiring in less than two months. Now, my days are filled with the task of creating detailed instruction manuals for everything I do. It’s astounding how time-consuming it is to put together a comprehensive ten to twenty-page guide—those screenshots really take up space!

I’ll be working part-time until the end of the first budget cycle to assist with preparing budget books and balancing finances. Although I’ll be in the office part-time during this transition, I’ll get to set my own schedule. I can’t wait to enjoy my morning coffee on weekdays—what a novelty! Plus, I’ve got some travel plans lined up during this time.

After my retirement, my boss inquired about my availability to assist with a software transition. I reminded her that I’m legally unable to work for six months post-retirement in July. However, I’m open to helping out if I’m available after that window.

  1. Congratulations on your decision to retire! It sounds like you’re entering an exciting new chapter in your life. It’s great to hear that you’ve been able to approach the transition with a positive mindset, even with the hefty task of creating instruction manuals. Taking the time to document your work will be invaluable for your team.

It’s also nice that you’re able to work part-time on your own schedule for a while longer—enjoying coffee on a weekday does sound like a refreshing change! And a little travel in between sounds like the perfect way to celebrate this transition.

It’s thoughtful of you to offer help with the software transition down the line, and I’m sure your insights will be greatly appreciated. Wishing you all the best as you navigate this new phase and find ways to fill your time with things you love!
