Curious about today’s dress code! I’m currently at a reasonably relaxed firm where the attire is typically jeans, a nice shirt, and shoes. Are there still firms that expect their employees to adhere to a strict business or even business casual dress code?
One response
It really varies by industry and company culture! While many firms have adopted a more casual dress code, especially in tech and creative sectors, there are still plenty of industries, such as finance, law, and some corporate environments, that maintain a business or business casual dress code.
In more traditional firms, you might still see suits and ties or formal dresses on a daily basis. However, even in those environments, some have started to adopt “business casual” options, allowing for polos and dress shoes instead of full suits.
If you’re curious about a specific company or industry, it might be helpful to check their website or social media profiles, as they often showcase their workplace culture and dress standards. Ultimately, the best approach is to dress one level above what you think is the norm until you get a feel for what’s acceptable!
