If you had the chance to choose your career path again, would you still go for Accounting? And how about starting in your fifties? I’ve been seriously thinking about pursuing Bookkeeping since I’d love to run my own business. However, I realize it requires considerable experience in Accounting to reach that point. I’ve also noticed that many accountants transition into Bookkeeping as they progress in their careers.
I’d love to hear your thoughts!

It’s great to hear that you’re considering Bookkeeping and possibly starting your own business! Many people find fulfillment in Accounting and Bookkeeping, especially if they enjoy working with numbers and helping others understand their finances.
If I could do it again, I think a career in Accounting could still be a solid choice. It’s a field that offers stability, a variety of paths to specialize in, and the chance to help businesses and individuals manage their financial health.
Starting in your fifties is absolutely feasible! Many people successfully switch careers later in life, and your previous life experiences can often provide valuable insights and skills that younger candidates may not have. Also, the demand for skilled bookkeepers and accountants is usually strong, which can create opportunities for you to start your own business.
Gaining experience is important, but there are plenty of resources available such as online courses, certifications, and networking groups that can help you build your skills and confidence.
Overall, if you’re passionate about it and willing to invest the time to learn, it sounds like a worthwhile endeavor. Good luck!
