Exciting Remote Staff Accountant Position Available

About Our Company:

We are a Series A startup backed by private equity and venture capital, focused on the clinical research site management sector and poised for significant growth. Founded in mid-2023, our Sr. Director of Accounting—an original team member with 12 years of experience (non-CPA)—has established our Accounting function from the ground up. Our Accounting and finance department is lean, and this position will be our second Accounting hire.

Compensation & Benefits:
– Salary range: $70-80k, depending on experience
– Remote work with minimal travel (once per quarter) to our headquarters in Nashville, TN
– 4 weeks of PTO, plus 14 company holidays
– 4% 401k match with immediate vesting

Job Description:

  • This is a newly created position.
  • Fully remote within the U.S.
  • Full-cycle accounting responsibilities, covering all aspects from start to finish.
  • Includes smaller data entry and review tasks.
  • Involvement in journal entries, monthly balance sheet reconciliations (accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued expenses, lease accounting, and equity accounting).
  • Participate in the preparation and review of financial statements.
  • Contribution to variance analysis and management commentary.
  • Active role in year-end audits with an external Audit firm (next Audit planned for April to June 2025).
  • Data aggregation for annual budget preparation.
  • Collaborate with outsourced accounting services for payables, fixed asset postings, and systems maintenance (the hiring manager prefers U.S.-based firms).
  • Opportunities to influence and enhance processes and projects.
  • Potential involvement in FP&A and strategic finance with the Director of finance.
  • For a skilled and dedicated candidate, work hours are unlikely to exceed 40 per week, promoting excellent work-life balance.

Ideal Candidate:

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience as a staff accountant and eager to learn and grow with us.
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university.
  • A blend of Audit, tax, and industry accounting experience (though not all are required).
  • Proficient in Excel (skills will be assessed in the interview).
  • An empathetic individual with strong critical thinking and reasoning abilities.
  • Enthusiastic about joining a women-led organization (81% of our workforce).
  • Candidates in the Tampa Bay, FL area will receive preference due to proximity to the hiring manager, allowing for in-person team building.

Hiring Process:

  1. Submit your application.
  2. Complete the Raven’s test (mandatory for all employees).
  3. Initial 30-minute phone screen with HR.
  4. 1.5-hour interview with the hiring manager.
  5. Brief 20-30 minute interviews with the Director of Finance and CFO.

The hiring manager will likely interview only 5-10 candidates, with the top 2-3 progressing to further rounds. We plan to start interviews in the next 1-2 weeks.
