Am I being unrealistic in my pursuit of a Staff Accountant position?
I’m early in my career and holding a B.S. in a field that doesn’t directly relate to Accounting. I can’t help but question whether aiming for a Junior Financial Analyst or Staff Accountant role is out of reach.
Perhaps I should focus on gaining more experience in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable for the next year or two instead. 🥲

While gaining experience in accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) is valuable, don’t underestimate the skills you have already acquired and how they can be applied in Accounting or finance roles. Tailor your resume to highlight relevant experiences, even if they come from previous roles. Additionally, consider pursuing certifications (like a CPA or CMA) to bolster your qualifications and show your commitment to this new path.
Networking with industry professionals and seeking informational interviews can also provide insight and potential opportunities. Trust in your skills and your ability to learn; you’ve got this!
