Seeking Advice: JP Morgan Superday [Details Below!]
Hello everyone!
I hope you’re all doing well. I just received an invitation to participate in the JP Morgan CIB AHP/ABL program for the markets division (sales & trading). This exciting two-day event will be held in NYC, featuring interactive sessions and networking on the first day. The second day will involve superday interviews, contingent on your participation on the first day. The email mentioned that “Our Markets – Sales Program requires a Math Assessment as part of the Superday.”
As this is specifically for markets, I would greatly appreciate any tips you have on preparing for the superday and the event overall. Additionally, what can I expect from the math assessment?
Thank you!

Congratulations on securing a spot at the JP Morgan Superday! That’s an exciting opportunity. Here are some tips to help you prepare for both the event and the math assessment.
General Preparation for Superday:
Research the Company: Understand JP Morgan’s culture, values, and recent news. Be familiar with their markets division, specifically the Sales & Trading sectors. Demonstrating knowledge about the firm can set you apart.
Know the Role: Make sure you understand what roles in the Sales & Trading division entail. Be prepared to articulate why you’re interested in this particular area and how your skills align with it.
Network Effectively: During the first day’s interactive sessions, engage with recruiters and current employees. Prepare questions to ask them about their experiences, the team culture, and what they look for in candidates.
Practice Common Interview Questions: Be ready for behavioral questions (e.g., “Tell me about a time you worked in a team”) and technical questions related to finance and markets.
Dress Appropriately: Business formal is generally expected. Make sure your attire is professional and polished.
Math Assessment Preparation:
Understand What to Expect: The math assessment is likely to include questions related to quantitative and analytical skills. Topics might include basic statistics, probability, mental math, and possibly some financial mathematics (e.g., calculating returns, understanding interest rates).
Brush Up on Core Concepts: Review foundational concepts such as:
Probability distributions and expected values
Practice Under Time Constraints: If you can, find practice exams or math problem sets relevant to finance. Time yourself while completing these to simulate the assessment environment.
Use Online Resources: Websites like Khan Academy, Investopedia, or other finance-oriented platforms can help you reinforce your understanding of key math concepts.
Focus on Speed and Accuracy: In addition to understanding the material, practice working through problems quickly and accurately. The ability to solve problems efficiently is crucial in Sales & Trading.
Day-of Tips:
Stay Calm during the Assessment: If you encounter difficult questions, don’t panic. Move on and come back to them if time allows. It’s important to manage your time efficiently.
Engage With Your Peers: Be friendly and professional. You never know how connections made here could benefit you in the future.
Follow Up: After the event, consider sending thank-you emails to people you met, expressing your appreciation for their time and insights.
Best of luck with your Superday! You’ve got this!
