Also, what is the dress code during the warmer months? And how proficient should one be in Excel?

Dress Code: Dress codes can vary by company, especially in hotter months. Many workplaces have a business casual approach in the summer, but it’s a good idea to check your company’s policy. When in doubt, opt for breathable, professional attire.
Excel Knowledge: Basic knowledge of Excel is usually enough for an internship—being comfortable with things like creating spreadsheets, performing basic calculations or using formulas is often what’s expected. If you’re not well-versed in it, consider brushing up on the Excel skills that are relevant to the tasks you might encounter.
