Am I being unrealistic in my pursuit of a Staff Accountant position?
I’m still at the beginning of my career and hold a Bachelor’s degree in a field that isn’t directly related. I’m starting to question whether it’s feasible for me to aim for a Junior Financial Analyst or Staff Accountant role right now.
Perhaps I should focus on gaining more experience in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable for another year or two first. 🥲

It’s completely understandable to feel uncertain about your career path, especially when your degree is in an unrelated field. However, seeking a Staff Accountant or Jr. Financial Analyst position is not delusional at all! Many employers value skills and experience over the specific major, especially for entry-level roles.
If you can highlight any relevant experience, whether through internships, coursework, or self-study, it could help strengthen your application. Additionally, consider pursuing certifications like a CPA or coursework in Accounting or finance to boost your qualifications.
Bucking down in AR/AP can provide valuable experience, but don’t hesitate to apply for the roles you’re interested in. Each position can provide valuable insight and experience that can shape your career. Trust in your skills, be open to learning, and go for it! You’ve got this!
