FDD/TAS exit to FP&A

Subject: Transitioning from FDD/TAS to FP&A

Hi everyone! I’m currently a senior in FDD/TAS with experience in both Big4 and MM A&M, and I’m planning to make a transition to FP&A or similar roles in the upcoming months. I’m seeking better work-life balance and hopefully less stress. The long hours and constant pressure have taken a toll on my physical and mental well-being, and I’ve come to realize that my current role does not align with my future aspirations. As a woman who plans to have children soon, the environment at my firm only adds to the challenge.

I hold my CPA and a Master’s degree, with a total of six years of experience—four in FDD/TAS (Big4/MM) and two in tax (Big4).

What positions should I be considering—SFA or finance Manager? I’ve noticed that the compensation for SFA roles is often comparable to or less than my current salary, and I’m worried that I might lack the hands-on experience needed for a Manager position.

If anyone has tips on how to tailor my resume for these types of roles, I’d greatly appreciate it. I’m primarily focused on FP&A for a better work-life balance but am open to exploring other finance, strategy, or corporate development opportunities as long as they don’t involve pure Accounting.
