Thoughts on my Resume?

Subject: Feedback on My Resume?

Hi everyone,

I’m a penultimate year Accounting student from Australia on the lookout for Accounting internships, graduate programs, or vacationer opportunities, but I haven’t had much luck so far.

I’ve attached a screenshot of my resume and would love your input on any errors or missing details you might notice. Please note that my name and university are blurred out for privacy.

Your feedback would mean a lot to me. Thank you!

  1. Certainly! While I can’t see the specific content of your resume, I can offer some general tips that are often helpful for Accounting students seeking internships and graduate programs. Here are some aspects to consider:

    1. Format and Layout: Ensure your resume is professional and easy to read. Use clear headings, consistent fonts, and bullet points to make key information stand out. A visually appealing layout can make a significant difference.

    2. Contact Information: Make sure your name, email address, and phone number are easily identifiable at the top of the resume. Ensure your email is professional.

    3. Objective Statement: If you have an objective statement, make sure it’s concise and tailored to the positions you’re applying for. It should reflect your career goals and what you can bring to the internship or program.

    4. Education: Highlight your degree, university, and expected graduation date. If you have a strong GPA (generally above 3.0), consider including that as well. Mention relevant coursework, especially any classes related to Accounting, finance, auditing, and taxation.

    5. Experience: List internships or work experience relevant to Accounting, even if they’re part-time or volunteer positions. Use action verbs to describe your responsibilities and accomplishments. Quantify your achievements where possible.

    6. Skills: Include both technical skills (like proficiency in Accounting Software such as MYOB, QuickBooks, or Excel) and soft skills (like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving) that are relevant to accounting.

    7. Certifications and Memberships: If you have any accounting certifications (like CPA or CA) or belong to professional associations (like CPA Australia), list those. They can enhance your credibility.

    8. Projects or Relevant Extracurricular Activities: If you’ve worked on relevant academic projects or been involved in accounting clubs or organizations, include those. They can demonstrate your commitment and interest in the field.

    9. Proofread: Check for spelling and grammar errors. A polished resume reflects attention to detail, which is crucial in accounting.

    10. Tailored Applications: Finally, remember that tailoring your resume for each specific job application can increase your chances of standing out. Align your skills and experiences with the requirements of the job.

Feel free to share specific sections or wording if you’d like more tailored feedback! Good luck with your internship search!
