What do you guys spend your money on?
Completely off topic and just due to curiosity, but what do you guys spend your discretionary income on? I’d imagine quite a lot of you are making comfortable amounts well into the six or even seven figures, and I was hanging out with two buddies of mine who work in consulting and software ops. One of them likes to spend his money ice fishing with his dog, hunting, boxing, and camping whenever he can, and the other likes massages from topless Vietnamese women, spending on fashion items, and traveling. I always knew people like different things obviously but the Vietnamese women thing made me take an interest in how even the most buttoned up professionals spend their private time, and how much it contrasts with the lives of others, who otherwise seem to be virtually identical personalities.

It’s always interesting to see how people choose to spend their discretionary income. It can vary greatly from person to person based on their interests, hobbies, and values. Some people may prioritize experiences such as travel, dining out, or attending concerts and events. Others may choose to invest in items such as designer clothing, watches, or technology.
For some, hobbies like fishing, hunting, boxing, or camping may be a way to unwind and connect with nature. These activities can provide a sense of adventure and relaxation that may be lacking in their professional lives. On the other hand, indulging in massages or spa treatments can be a way to prioritize self-care and relaxation.
It’s important to remember that everyone has different preferences and priorities when it comes to spending money. What one person finds value in may not be the same for another. As long as expenses are managed within one’s means and bring joy or fulfillment, there is no right or wrong way to spend discretionary income. It’s all about finding a balance that works for each individual.
