I’m starting my first day in Accounting tomorrow – did I buy the right brand of shredder?

Hey everyone,

I’m starting my first day in Accounting tomorrow and I want to make sure I’m prepared. I bought a shredder from Amazon to help me with all the paperwork, but now I’m having second thoughts. Did I make the right choice in the brand of shredder I bought? I went with a Fellowes Powershred 60Cs – does anyone have any experience with this model or have any recommendations for a better one?

Thanks in advance for your help!

  1. Congrats on starting your first day in Accounting! Having a shredder is essential for securely disposing of confidential documents in the workplace. In terms of choosing the right brand of shredder, it really depends on your specific needs and budget.

Some factors to consider when choosing a shredder include:

    1. Security Level: Shredders are categorized by security levels, ranging from P-1 to P-7. For most general office use, a P-3 or P-4 shredder should suffice. If you’re dealing with highly sensitive information, you may want to opt for a higher security level.

    2. Capacity: Consider how much paper you’ll need to shred on a daily basis. A higher capacity shredder will be able to handle more sheets at once, which can save you time.

    3. Type of Cut: Shredders come in strip-cut, cross-cut, and micro-cut options. Cross-cut and micro-cut shredders provide more security than strip-cut shredders.

    4. Durability: Look for a shredder that is built to last and can handle heavy-duty usage.

    5. Brand Reputation: Some well-known brands for shredders include Fellowes, AmazonBasics, and Swingline. Reading reviews and checking for warranties can help you gauge the reputation of a brand.

Ultimately, as long as the shredder you purchased meets your specific needs in terms of security, capacity, and durability, you likely made a good choice. If you find that the shredder doesn’t meet your expectations after using it for a while, you can always consider upgrading to a different brand or model in the future. Good luck on your first day in Accounting!
