My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Launching a Freelance Bookkeeping Business: Seeking Insights from Experienced Professionals

As my wife prepares to embark on her journey as a freelance bookkeeper, we’re excited (and a bit apprehensive) about the next steps. After dedicating nearly two decades to the Accounting and Bookkeeping field, she is ready to transition from working for others to building her own clientele.

Her extensive background includes positions such as staff accountant and Accounting supervisor at a major cable company, where she managed payroll for over 800 employees. Additionally, she has served as an office manager and bookkeeper for various industries, including real estate development, construction, automotive services, and more. This wealth of experience has equipped her with a solid foundation in financial management.

Currently, she is honing her skills with QuickBooks and completing additional certifications. We’re in the final stages of launching her website, and her engagement letter and resume have been polished to perfection. With everything almost in place, she is eager to begin reaching out to potential clients.

It’s important to note that she will not be offering tax services, as she is neither a CPA nor an EA. Instead, her focus will be on providing value to small to mid-sized businesses and startups, offering effective solutions to manage their Bookkeeping needs. Her expertise includes refining disorganized financial records, generating profit and loss statements, creating balance sheets, and providing actionable cost-saving strategies. With a strong emphasis on automation, she aims to simplify financial processes for her clients.

Our initial strategy involves networking with local CPA firms. However, we seek advice on the best way to make a positive first impression. Should we reach out via email, make phone calls, or schedule in-person visits? Any insights on how to navigate these introductions would be immensely appreciated.

Additionally, we are open to any suggestions on how to attract clients and successfully establish her practice.

Thank you for your guidance as we embark on this exciting new venture!
