Finding the Perfect Bookkeeping Software for Independent Contractors
As a self-employed independent contractor operating an LLC taxed as an S-Corp, managing finances can often become overwhelming, especially when it comes to Bookkeeping. If your work entails receiving monthly 1099 compensation and tracking a handful of business expenses, you may find that complex Accounting Software like QuickBooks is more than what you really need.
I provide healthcare services and currently use Gusto to handle payroll for myself. My Bookkeeping requirements are quite minimal: primarily just keeping track of 1099s from the facilities I partner with and logging a few business expenses. I don’t have to deal with inventory management, billing, or time tracking, which makes my bookkeeping needs straightforward.
In my search for a more manageable bookkeeping solution, I’m looking for software that offers simplicity without breaking the bank—ideally, I want something well under the $35 per month that QuickBooks Simple Start charges. A major consideration for me is finding software that can be easily accessed and managed via an iOS app. I value the ability to link my bank and credit card accounts so that transactions can automatically flow into the software, streamlining the entire process.
At the moment, I am evaluating two contenders: Wave and Zoho Books. Wave is known for its free services and user-friendly interface, while Zoho Books offers a slightly more robust set of features for a low monthly fee.
If you’re in a similar situation and seeking straightforward bookkeeping software tailored for independent contractors, I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences. What tools have you found helpful to keep your finances organized? Your insights could make a significant impact on simplifying someone else’s bookkeeping journey. Thank you!
