Title: Launching a Bookkeeping Business: Seeking Guidance from Seasoned Freelancers
As my wife prepares to embark on her journey as a freelance bookkeeper, we find ourselves reaching out for insights from seasoned professionals in the field. After dedicating nearly two decades to Accounting and Bookkeeping roles, she is ready to leverage her extensive experience in a new venture.
Her background encompasses positions as a staff accountant and supervisor, where she managed payroll for over 800 employees at a cable company, along with roles in various other sectors including real estate development, construction, and automotive services. With such a diverse skill set, she is well-equipped to assist clients from various industries.
Currently, she is finalizing her website and completing the final certifications with QuickBooks, ensuring she stays up-to-date with industry standards. Her engagement letter is ready, and her resume has been polished to reflect her capabilities. With these preparations in place, she is set to begin her client acquisition process.
It’s important to note that my wife will not be offering tax services, as she is neither a CPA nor an EA. Her focus will be on supporting small to mid-sized businesses, especially startups, by providing cost-effective Bookkeeping solutions. From tidying up disorganized financial records to generating profit and loss statements and balance sheets, her expertise allows her to identify cost-saving opportunities effortlessly. Additionally, she is committed to implementing automation in her processes to enhance efficiency.
Our strategy for initial outreach involves connecting with local CPA firms. However, we are uncertain about the best approach to make a strong first impression. Should we opt for email, phone calls, or even in-person visits? Any recommendations on how to present herself effectively or tips for building rapport would be greatly appreciated.
Furthermore, we welcome any additional suggestions on client acquisition strategies or general insights on successfully launching this freelance endeavor.
Thank you for your guidance as we take this exciting step forward!
