Empowering a New Chapter: Tips for Freelance Bookkeepers on Client Acquisition
After years of dedicated service in the Accounting and Bookkeeping sector, my wife is excited to take the leap into entrepreneurship. With nearly 15 to 20 years of diverse experience, she is moving away from traditional employment to offer her services as a freelance bookkeeper.
Her background spans various industries, including serving as a staff accountant and supervisor of payroll for a major cable company, as well as managing the books for real estate developers, construction firms, painting companies, and automotive repair shops. This wealth of experience has equipped her with a robust understanding of the financial landscape.
Currently, she is finalizing her QuickBooks certifications and polishing her website, which is set to launch imminently. With a completed engagement letter and an updated resume in hand, she is on the verge of marketing her services to potential clients.
It’s important to note that she won’t be providing tax services, as she is not a CPA or EA. Instead, her focus will be on assisting small to mid-sized businesses and startups seeking a cost-effective Bookkeeping solution. She excels at cleaning up disorganized financial records, producing profit and loss statements, balancing sheets, and identifying areas for cost reduction—all with a strong emphasis on automation.
To kick off her client acquisition strategy, she plans to reach out to local CPA firms. However, we are pondering the best initial approach to make a strong first impression. Would it be more effective to initiate contact via email, make a phone call, or perhaps even visit in person? Any other insights on creating a positive initial impact would also be greatly appreciated.
Moreover, we are exploring how to effectively bill for her services on an hourly basis and welcome any suggestions on strategies for attracting clients and maximizing her freelance potential.
Thank you for your support and any guidance you can offer as we embark on this exciting new journey!
