Choosing Basic Bookkeeping Software for Self-Employed Independent Contractors
As a self-employed independent contractor operating as an LLC taxed as an S-Corp, finding the right Bookkeeping software can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re looking for simplicity. With minimal expenses and monthly 1099 compensation, you might wonder what the most straightforward solution is for your Accounting needs.
In my case, I provide healthcare services under a 1099 arrangement. I handle payroll for myself using Gusto, but I want a Bookkeeping option that will streamline my financial tasks and make my accountant’s job easier. Programs like QuickBooks can be excessively complicated and costly, especially when my needs are quite basic. I don’t deal with inventory, invoicing, or time tracking—just simple management of 1099 income and business expenses.
What I’m Looking For
-
Affordability: I’m seeking a simple bookkeeping software that won’t break the bank. QuickBooks Simple Start, for example, comes with a monthly fee of $35, which I find steep for my situation.
-
User-Friendliness: My goal is to find something that I can predominantly manage through an iOS app, allowing me to handle my finances on the go.
-
Integration Capabilities: It’s essential for me to link my bank and credit card accounts, enabling automatic transaction flow into the software for easier tracking.
Considerations: Wave vs. Zoho Books
Currently, I’m exploring options like Wave and Zoho Books, both of which have been recommended for their simplicity and effectiveness for someone in my position. I’m curious to know if either of these platforms has the streamlined features I need without the overwhelming complexity typically associated with larger Accounting solutions.
If you have recommendations or experiences with these or other bookkeeping software that may fit my criteria, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for any insights you can provide!
