Starting a Freelance Bookkeeping Venture: Seeking Guidance from Pros
As my wife embarks on an exciting new chapter in her professional journey, she is poised to launch her freelance Bookkeeping business. With nearly 20 years of intensive experience in various Accounting roles, including working as a staff accountant and payroll supervisor for a cable company, office manager/bookkeeper for real estate developers, and in construction and auto mechanics, she brings a wealth of expertise to the table.
Her proficiency with QuickBooks is complemented by her effort to complete all available certifications, and she is almost ready to unveil her new website. Additionally, she has finalized her engagement letter and updated her resume, making her well-prepared to begin marketing her services to potential clients.
It’s important to note that she will not be providing tax services, nor does she hold CPA or EA credentials. Instead, her target market includes small to mid-sized businesses and startups, where she can offer cost-effective Bookkeeping solutions. Her skills include cleaning up disorganized financial records, generating profit and loss statements, balancing sheets, and identifying cost-cutting opportunities. Plus, she is committed to incorporating automation into her processes to streamline operations.
To kick off her outreach, we plan to connect with local CPA firms as a first step. This raises the question: what is the most effective way to approach these firms? Should she reach out via email, make a phone call, or drop by for an in-person visit? We are also eager to gather insights on making a strong first impression and ensuring successful communication.
Additionally, we welcome any recommendations on strategies for acquiring clients and general tips for growing her freelance practice.
Thank you for your assistance as we embark on this thrilling venture!
