My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Starting a Freelance Bookkeeping Journey: Seeking Advice from Seasoned Professionals

As my wife prepares to embark on her freelance Bookkeeping adventure, we’re reaching out for insights and advice from those with experience in the field. After dedicating nearly two decades to Accounting and Bookkeeping, she has made the decision to transition from employee to entrepreneur.

Her professional background is impressive, having held roles such as Staff Accountant and Supervisor of Accounting—where she managed payroll for over 800 employees in the cable industry—as well as Office Manager and Bookkeeper for various companies in real estate development, construction, painting, and automotive service. With such a diverse skill set, she is more than equipped to handle various Accounting challenges.

Currently, she is proficient in QuickBooks and is diligently completing all available certifications to further bolster her expertise. Her website is nearing completion, the engagement letter is finalized, and her resume has been polished to present her skills effectively. The final piece of the puzzle is marketing her services to potential clients.

It’s important to note that she will not be offering tax services and does not hold a CPA or EA designation. Instead, her focus will be on assisting small to mid-sized businesses and startups, providing them with a cost-effective solution for their bookkeeping needs. Whether it’s tidying up disorganized records, producing profit and loss statements and balance sheets, or advising on cost-cutting measures, she is prepared to make a significant impact on her clients’ financial health. Additionally, she emphasizes automation to streamline bookkeeping processes, ensuring efficiency.

Our initial outreach strategy will involve connecting with local CPA firms. To facilitate this, we’re seeking guidance on the best approach. Should we initiate contact via email, phone, or perhaps a walk-in visit? What methods have worked well for professionals in your network when making a first connection? We also welcome any tips on how to create a strong first impression.

Furthermore, we are exploring various strategies to attract clients and would greatly appreciate any additional suggestions or recommendations.

Thank you for your support as we navigate this exciting new chapter!
