Seeking an Alternative Bookkeeping System for Simplified Reporting

Hello everyone,

I find myself in need of a secondary Bookkeeping system to gain better insight into my monthly financials. Currently, my accountant handles Bookkeeping only at year-end, which leaves me feeling somewhat disconnected from my ongoing expenses and income. While he has set me up on Wave, he has advised me to refrain from categorizing expenses, possibly due to a specific framework he uses during the annual review.

To enhance my financial management, I’m searching for a tool that would ideally allow me to connect my bank account through Plaid for seamless data integration. My goal is to have transactions auto-populate while still being able to categorize some items, ensuring that any classifications I make are retained for future reference.

I previously signed up for Zoho Books, but encountered a hurdle as my bank statements from Chase are only available in PDF format, which Zoho doesn’t accept.

Therefore, I would greatly appreciate any recommendations for alternative bookkeeping solutions. My preference is for options that are either free or very cost-effective. Thank you in advance for your suggestions!
