My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Embarking on a Freelance Bookkeeping Journey: Seeking Advice and Insights

As my wife prepares to transition into the world of freelance Bookkeeping, we are reaching out to gather valuable insights from experienced professionals in the field. After dedicating 15 to 20 years to the Accounting and Bookkeeping sector, she is ready to forge her own path, moving away from traditional employment and stepping into entrepreneurship.

With an impressive background that includes roles such as a staff accountant and Accounting supervisor—managing payroll for over 800 employees at a cable company—as well as positions in real estate development, construction, and auto repair, my wife brings a wealth of experience to her new venture. Her proficiency with QuickBooks is complemented by her ongoing efforts to complete various relevant certifications. She is also in the final stages of launching her website, alongside an updated resume and a well-crafted engagement letter. Everything is falling into place as she gears up for marketing her services.

Importantly, her focus will not include tax preparation, as she is neither a CPA nor an EA. Instead, she aims to assist small to mid-sized businesses and startups, providing them with a cost-effective solution for their bookkeeping needs. She excels in tidying up disorganized accounts, generating P&Ls, balancing sheets, and recommending cost-saving measures—all with a focus on automation to enhance efficiency.

Our initial strategy involves collaborating with local CPA firms, and we are contemplating the best approach to introduce her services to them. Should she reach out via email, make phone calls, or simply walk in to make introductions? Furthermore, we want to ensure that her first impression is both memorable and professional.

We are also open to any advice or strategies regarding client acquisition and best practices for establishing a successful freelance bookkeeping business.

Thank you for your insights and support as we embark on this exciting new chapter!
