My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Embarking on a Freelance Bookkeeping Journey: Seeking Insights and Guidance

After years of dedicated service in the Accounting and Bookkeeping field, my wife has made the empowering decision to branch out on her own. With nearly two decades of comprehensive experience under her belt, she is now ready to offer her expertise as a freelance bookkeeper.

Her professional journey spans various roles, including a staff accountant and supervisor of Accounting for a major cable company, an office manager for a real estate developer, and positions at a construction painting company and an auto mechanic shop. This diverse background has equipped her with invaluable skills and insights, making her well-prepared to assist clients from different sectors.

Currently, she is enhancing her proficiency by completing certifications in QuickBooks and finalizing her website, which is poised to showcase her services. With an engagement letter in place and her resume up to date, she is on the brink of launching her freelance Bookkeeping business.

Notably, she will not be providing tax services and does not hold CPA or EA credentials. Instead, her focus will be on serving small to mid-sized businesses, offering them an efficient and economical alternative for their bookkeeping needs. From cleaning up disorganized financial records to producing profit and loss statements and balance sheets, she excels in delivering valuable insights on cost-cutting strategies—often with minimal effort. Automation is one of her key priorities, ensuring streamlined processes for her clients.

As an initial strategy, we plan to engage local CPA firms to build connections and establish her new venture. However, we are unsure of the most effective way to make that initial contact. Should we reach out via email, make a phone call, or visit in person? Additionally, we would appreciate any tips on making a lasting first impression.

We are also receptive to any suggestions for attracting clients and general advice on succeeding in this new endeavor.

Thank you in advance for your insights and support!
