My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Embarking on a New Freelance Journey: Seeking Client Acquisition Advice for Bookkeeping

Exciting news on the horizon: my wife is preparing to launch her freelance Bookkeeping services! After over 15 years in the Accounting and Bookkeeping field, she has decided to take the plunge and establish her own business. Her extensive experience spans roles such as staff accountant and supervisor overseeing payroll for more than 800 employees at a cable company, office manager/bookkeeper for a real estate developer, and positions in construction and automotive services.

Her deep familiarity with QuickBooks is complemented by her ongoing pursuit of certification, making her well-equipped to meet the needs of future clients. With her website nearing completion and essential documents like the engagement letter and an updated resume finalized, she is almost ready to embark on her marketing efforts.

It’s important to note that her services won’t include tax preparation, as she is neither a CPA nor an EA. Instead, she aims to assist small to mid-sized businesses and new entrepreneurs by providing cost-effective solutions. Her skills include organizing disordered financial records, generating profit and loss statements, preparing balance sheets, and recommending strategies for reducing expenses, all while prioritizing automation to enhance efficiency.

Our initial strategy focuses on collaborating with local CPA firms. To that end, I am seeking guidance on the best methods for establishing contact with these firms. Should she reach out via email, make phone calls, or consider in-person visits? Additionally, any insights on leaving a positive first impression would be greatly appreciated.

We are also open to recommendations for effective client acquisition techniques or general advice to bolster her new venture.

Thank you for your support as we navigate this exciting chapter!
