Taking the Leap: Launching a Freelance Bookkeeping Business
As the world of freelance Accounting continues to thrive, my wife is preparing to step into this exciting arena and launch her own Bookkeeping business. With nearly two decades of experience in Accounting and Bookkeeping, she has amassed a wealth of knowledge in various roles, including staff accountant and office manager. Her diverse background includes working for a cable company where she managed payroll for over 800 employees, as well as positions in real estate development, construction, painting, and auto repair.
Her considerable expertise in QuickBooks is complemented by her ongoing pursuit of certifications in the software. With her professional website nearing completion and critical documents like the engagement letter and updated resume finalized, she is on the brink of marketing her services.
It’s important to note that while she won’t be offering tax services and is not a CPA or EA, her target clientele consists of smaller, mid-sized, and newer enterprises seeking effective and affordable bookkeeping solutions. With an aptitude for cleaning up disorganized financial records, preparing profit and loss statements, and balancing books, she’s ready to help businesses streamline their operations while emphasizing automation as a key service.
Connecting with Local CPA Firms
Our initial strategy involves reaching out to local CPA firms to establish partnerships and referral opportunities. This presents a wonderful chance to collaborate and tap into their existing client base. However, we are keen to approach these firms in the most effective way possible.
I would love to gather some insights from those who have successfully navigated this path before. What methods have you found most effective for making initial contact with CPA firms? Would you recommend sending an introductory email, making a phone call, or perhaps even walking in to introduce herself in person? Additionally, any tips for crafting a compelling first impression would be greatly appreciated.
Seeking Broader Advice
We are also eager to gather any additional suggestions on how to land clients in today’s competitive market. Whether it’s networking strategies, marketing tactics, or general advice on establishing a freelance bookkeeping practice, we are all ears.
Thank you for your support as my wife embarks on this new and exciting chapter in her career!
