My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Launching a Freelance Bookkeeping Business: Seeking Guidance from Seasoned Professionals

As my wife prepares to transition from traditional employment to starting her own freelance Bookkeeping practice, I’m reaching out for insights from those with experience in the field.

After dedicating 15 to 20 years to the Accounting and Bookkeeping sectors, she’s ready to carve out her own niche. Her extensive background includes roles such as a staff accountant and supervisor of Accounting for a large cable company, as well as office management and bookkeeping for various businesses in real estate development, construction, automotive, and beyond. This diverse experience has equipped her with a robust skill set.

Currently, she’s proficient in QuickBooks and is in the process of completing all relevant certifications through the platform. Her professional website is nearing completion, her engagement letter is finalized, and her resume has been updated to reflect her extensive experience. With marketing efforts about to begin, she is excited to connect with potential clients.

It’s important to note that she will not be offering tax services, as she is neither a CPA nor an EA. Instead, her focus will be on servicing small to mid-sized businesses and startups, providing a cost-effective bookkeeping solution. She excels in organizing disordered financial records, preparing profit and loss statements, creating balance sheets, and offering cost-saving recommendations. Additionally, she is keen on incorporating automation into her processes to enhance efficiency.

Initially, my wife plans to approach local CPA firms to establish her presence in the community. For those who have experience in client acquisition, I’d love your advice on the best methods to introduce herself. Should she opt for emails, phone calls, or perhaps an in-person visit? Furthermore, any tips on making a memorable first impression would be greatly appreciated.

We’re considering an hourly billing structure and are open to any other suggestions for attracting clients or general advice regarding the freelance bookkeeping landscape.

Thank you for your support as we embark on this exciting journey!
