My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Setting the Stage for Success: A New Journey in Freelance Bookkeeping

After years of dedicated service in the Accounting and Bookkeeping fields, my wife is embarking on an exciting new chapter—launching her own freelance Bookkeeping business. With a robust background that spans nearly two decades in various industries, including cable services, real estate development, construction, and automotive repair, she is well-equipped to make a significant impact in her new venture.

Having operated in diverse roles, from staff accountant and Accounting supervisor managing payroll for over 800 employees to office manager and bookkeeper, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table. Her experience with QuickBooks is extensive, and she is currently finalizing her array of QuickBooks certifications to further enhance her credentials. Her professional website is nearly ready, and she has completed her engagement letter while updating her resume.

Her business model focuses on servicing smaller to mid-sized companies and startups, providing them with cost-effective Bookkeeping solutions. She aims to simplify financial management by cleaning up disorganized bookkeeping, generating profit and loss statements, preparing balance sheets, and identifying opportunities for cost savings. Automation will play a pivotal role in her service offerings, helping clients optimize their financial processes seamlessly.

To kick off her client acquisition efforts, we plan to reach out to local CPA firms. However, we are uncertain about the best way to initiate these connections. Should we send an introductory email, make a phone call, or even drop by in person? We would greatly appreciate any insights from seasoned freelance bookkeepers on how they made their first impressions in similar situations.

Additionally, we are open to suggestions that could help her successfully attract clients, such as best practices for marketing her services or effective strategies for networking within her community.

Your advice and recommendations would be invaluable as we navigate this exciting new path. Thank you in advance for your assistance!
