My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Guiding Your Freelance Bookkeeping Journey: Seeking Insights from Experienced Professionals

Embarking on the journey of freelance Bookkeeping can be both exhilarating and daunting. My wife, after dedicating nearly two decades to Accounting and Bookkeeping roles, is ready to take the leap into self-employment. Her extensive background spans a variety of industries, including a significant role as a staff accountant and supervisor managing payroll for over 800 employees in a cable company, as well as serving as an office manager and bookkeeper for a real estate developer, construction firm, and auto mechanics. With such a diverse experience, she is well-prepared to offer quality services to her future clients.

Having mastered QuickBooks and currently completing her all necessary certifications, she is making steady progress in establishing her own business. Her website is nearing completion, the engagement letter is finalized, and her resume has been polished to reflect her skills. Now, with marketing on the horizon, she is excited to connect with potential clients.

Her focus will be on providing bookkeeping services to small to mid-sized businesses and startups. Importantly, she will not be offering tax services, nor does she hold CPA or EA credentials. Instead, she aims to bring a cost-effective approach to bookkeeping, assisting clients with cleaning up disorganized accounts, generating profit and loss statements, creating balance sheets, and identifying potential cost-saving measures. Automation will also be a core principle in her operations, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.

As part of her initial strategy, she plans to reach out to local CPA firms. This raises an important question: what is the most effective way to make first contact? Should her approach be through email, phone calls, or even in-person visits? Additionally, any advice on how to make a strong first impression in this competitive field would be invaluable.

She is also open to any further suggestions regarding client acquisition or general tips for successfully navigating the freelance bookkeeping landscape. Your insights would be greatly appreciated as we embark on this new chapter. Thank you for your support!
