My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Venturing Into Freelance Bookkeeping: Seeking Expert Insights

As my wife prepares to embark on her very own freelance Bookkeeping journey, we are reaching out to gather advice from seasoned professionals in the field. After dedicating nearly 15 to 20 years to various Accounting and Bookkeeping roles, she has concluded that it’s time to transition from being an employee to becoming her own boss.

Her extensive background includes impressive positions such as a staff accountant and Accounting supervisor, where she managed payroll for an impressive roster of 800 employees at a cable company. Additionally, she has served as an office manager/bookkeeper for a real estate developer, a construction firm, a painting company, and an auto repair shop. This diverse experience has equipped her with a solid foundation in the industry.

Currently, she is well-versed in QuickBooks and is diligently completing all relevant certifications. Her website is nearing completion, and important documents such as the engagement letter and her updated resume are ready. Soon, she will begin her marketing efforts to attract clients.

It’s important to note that she will not be providing tax services, as she is neither a CPA nor an EA. Instead, her target audience consists of smaller, mid-sized, and emerging businesses that could benefit from cost-effective bookkeeping solutions. With a knack for streamlining chaotic financial records, generating profit and loss statements, and balancing sheets, she aims to help clients identify areas for cost reduction. Automation will also play a key role in her service offerings.

To kick off her client acquisition strategy, we plan to reach out to local CPA firms. We are curious about the best initial approach to take—should we opt for email, phone calls, or even in-person visits? Any insights into making a memorable first impression would be greatly appreciated.

Furthermore, we are open to additional strategies for acquiring clients or any general tips that could facilitate this exciting transition into freelance bookkeeping.

Thank you for your support!
