Launching a Freelance Bookkeeping Venture: Seeking Insights from Experienced Professionals
As my wife embarks on an exciting new chapter in her career, we are reaching out to the community for guidance. After dedicating nearly two decades to the Accounting and Bookkeeping field, she is ready to transition from traditional employment to offering her services independently.
Throughout her career, she has held various positions, including staff accountant and supervisor of payroll for a large cable company, office manager/bookkeeper for a real estate developer, and support for construction and automotive businesses. Her extensive experience has equipped her with a deep understanding of Bookkeeping processes and financial management.
With a robust proficiency in QuickBooks and a commitment to completing all relevant certifications, her website is nearing launch. Additionally, she has finalized her engagement letter and updated her resume. Now, the next step is to attract clients.
It’s important to note that while she is highly skilled, she will not be providing tax services, nor does she hold CPA or EA credentials. Instead, her focus will be on serving smaller to mid-sized businesses, particularly new ventures, offering them a cost-effective solution. She excels at tidying up disorganized books, preparing profit and loss statements, creating balance sheets, and identifying potential cost savings—all with a high priority on automation.
To kick off her client acquisition strategy, we plan to reach out to local CPA firms first. We are considering various approaches for our initial contact—whether through email, phone calls, or in-person visits—and would greatly appreciate your insights on the most effective methods for making a strong first impression.
Moreover, we welcome any additional strategies for acquiring new clients and any general tips that could assist her in launching this venture successfully.
Thank you for your support as we navigate this new and exciting journey!
