What’s the most simple bookkeeping software for a self-employed independent contractor (LLC taxed as s-corp)? All I have are (few) expenses and monthly 1099 compensation.

The Quest for Simple Bookkeeping Software for Independent Contractors

As a self-employed independent contractor classified as an LLC taxed as an S-Corp, managing finances can often feel overwhelming. With limited expenses and monthly 1099 compensation, finding a straightforward Bookkeeping solution becomes essential.

I provide healthcare services as a 1099 independent contractor and run payroll for myself using Gusto. Given the nature of my work, I’m searching for Bookkeeping software that simplifies the process for both myself and my accountant. Unfortunately, comprehensive options like QuickBooks are excessive for my needs.

Currently, my Accounting situation consists solely of receiving 1099 forms from the facilities I work with and tracking a few business expenses. I have no inventory to manage, invoices to issue, or time tracking to consider. My ideal software would cover the basics without unnecessary complexities, letting me keep everything under control with minimal effort.

I’m specifically on the lookout for budget-friendly alternatives that avoid the recurring $35/month fee linked to services like QuickBooks Simple Start. An important feature for me is the ability to utilize an iOS app almost exclusively, enabling me to manage most of my transactions directly from my mobile device. It would also be beneficial if I could link my bank and credit card accounts for seamless transaction import.

Right now, I’m weighing my options between Wave and Zoho Books, both of which seem promising for a user-friendly experience.

If you have any suggestions or insights into easy-to-use bookkeeping software that fits these criteria, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Your recommendations could help streamline my financial management and make life a little easier. Thank you!
