Launching a Freelance Bookkeeping Venture: A Call for Expert Insights
Starting a new business is an exciting yet challenging endeavor, and my wife is ready to take the leap into the world of freelance Bookkeeping! After dedicating 15 to 20 years to various roles in the Accounting and Bookkeeping sectors, she’s set to transition from working for others to establishing her own practice.
Her impressive background includes positions such as staff accountant and Accounting supervisor for a cable company, office manager/bookkeeper for a real estate developer, and roles in construction, painting, and auto mechanic sectors. With such diverse experience under her belt, she has gained significant expertise in financial management.
Currently, she is completing her certifications with QuickBooks and finalizing her professional website. With her engagement letter ready and her resume polished, she is on the brink of marketing her services. It’s truly an exhilarating time as she prepares to connect with potential clients!
Importantly, she will not be offering tax services and does not hold CPA or EA credentials. Instead, her focus will be on supporting small to mid-sized businesses and newer entrepreneurs as an affordable bookkeeping solution. She excels at organizing disordered financial records, generating profit and loss statements, balancing sheets, and providing actionable cost-cutting suggestions. Additionally, she is eager to leverage automation to enhance efficiency in her clients’ bookkeeping processes.
As a first step, she plans to reach out to local CPA firms. We are seeking advice on the best way to initiate contact—should she opt for emails, phone calls, or perhaps in-person visits? Insights on making a strong first impression would also be greatly appreciated.
Moreover, we welcome any other tips for attracting clients or general advice on starting this new venture. Your suggestions and experiences could be invaluable as my wife embarks on this exciting chapter.
