Embracing Freedom: My Journey to a Remote Career without a Car

It’s a question I often encounter from my colleagues: “Why don’t you have a car?” My typical reply is that I’m committed to being eco-friendly. However, the deeper truth is that my choice is financially motivated—I’m determined to save as much as possible in order to invest in my ultimate goal: launching my own business and securing a future where I can work entirely remotely, without the complications of a hybrid model.

As I progressed in my journey to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), I discovered the empowering impact of taking control of my career path. When I actively pursue my goals, the results are far more satisfying than attempting to meet an employer’s expectations or forcing outcomes that may not align with my aspirations. There’s a profound sense of achievement that comes from applying for positions that require or prefer a CPA designation. Now, I don’t have to justify my abilities—my credentials speak for themselves.

Rather than convincing reluctant employers of my capabilities, I can focus on delivering value directly to my clients from the comfort of my own home.
