A common question I often encounter from my coworkers is why I choose to forego owning a car. My standard reply is that I’m committed to an eco-friendly lifestyle. However, the deeper truth is that I have a more strategic motivation: I am dedicated to saving money to pave the way for my ultimate goal—launching my own business and securing a fully remote lifestyle, free from the confines of traditional office work.

As I pursue my CPA designation, I’ve come to understand the value of taking charge of my professional trajectory. Rather than attempting to force a specific outcome in my career, I’ve realized that proactive engagement leads to more favorable results. It’s empowering to apply for positions labeled “CPA required” or “CPA preferred,” knowing that my qualifications speak for themselves. I no longer feel the need to justify my worth; my credentials do that for me.

The traditional employment setup often involves unnecessary intermediaries—employers who dictate how and where we work. Instead, I see the potential in connecting directly with clients, eliminating the middleman.
