Seeking Insights: Accountants with Experience in Global Shares and Shareworks

Hello, readers!

As our company embarks on the journey of selecting a new equity compensation software solution for our HR and Accounting departments, we’ve encountered several challenges with our current system. The inadequacies have forced us into cumbersome Excel workarounds, which is far from ideal.

After extensive research, we’ve narrowed our options down to Global Shares and Shareworks. Both platforms seem promising and align with many of our requirements. However, I would appreciate insights from accountants who have hands-on experience with these tools, particularly regarding specific Accounting functionalities.

Here are the key features we’re looking for:

  1. Monthly Graded Vesting: We need a system that allows for monthly graded vesting while also enabling the customization of various scenarios. While I believe that most software solutions can accommodate this, I’m concerned about necessary reversals complicating the process.

  2. Internal Transfers Between Subsidiaries: Our operations require a robust mechanism for tracking internal transfers between subsidiaries. It’s essential for the system to maintain a detailed history of expenses for each subsidiary, especially in instances of reversals—where allocations must be accurately reflected across entities based on the vested amounts.

  3. Modification of Awards: The ability to easily adjust awards is crucial for our dynamic environment.

  4. Modification of Fair Value (FV): Frequently, we estimate fair values and later obtain external valuations, sometimes several months, or even nearly a year later. We need software that can accommodate these changes seamlessly.

While both companies assured us that their platforms can effectively manage these requirements, I remain somewhat skeptical and would love to gather firsthand accounts from professionals who have navigated these systems.

Thank you for your help! To lighten the mood, here’s a humorous meme to show my gratitude.

Looking forward to your thoughts and insights!
